Brenda Johnson-Perkins is a Librarian and Adult Services Coordinator for Baltimore County Public Library.
She received an MA degree in African American Studies – Comparative Black Literature from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and her MLS from the University of Maryland at College Park. She is a Spectrum Scholar, Maryland Library Leadership Institute Graduate, a member of the Maryland Library Association’s Equity and Diversity Task Force, the Executive Secretary for Black Caucus of the American Library Association, a 2014 recipient of the Baltimore Human Relations Commission Disability Award, and a Library Journal Mover and Shaker Award Winner in 2021.
She has dedicated her 21-year career as a librarian to being an advocate for under-represented voices and a fighter for racial justice equality through community engagement programming for all ages.
In Curating Connections, she aims to encourage the local movers and shakers in the community to speak up and foster action through open dialogue, idea sharing, and direct engagement with the people they serve. By building connections, we can make things happen!
